A Little Something About Me...
When my parents realized I had an aptitude for storytelling—okay, even at an early age I was
a consummate liar—they encouraged me to find constructive ways to put all that “creativity” to use.
I wrote my first novel when I was in junior high school. It was a typical teenage girl’s fantasy
about being kidnapped by a rock star, finding out he was really misunderstood, a millionaire’s son,
and living happily ever after with the reformed rebel… Oh, what fun!
I married my high school sweetheart—right out of high school—and everyone told us it wouldn’t last.
Then, the boys came along. Chris and Randy. Both of whom refuse to respond to the names I chose
for them, Christopher and Randall. Typical. But even in the chaos of raising a family, the writing
bug never left me, nor did my tendency to embellish… Oh, what fun!
For my birthday one year, Scott, my amazing husband of 20+ years—remember the high school sweetheart
everyone said wouldn’t stick around—got me a membership in Romance Writers of America. I read,
I studied, and suddenly I wondered if I was as entertaining as my friends seemed to think. So, I
entered contests… Oh, what fun!
I’m now a bonafide contest junkie. For several years I used contests as my critique partner.
I learned from the judges’ comments, after I’d finished crying and calling them terrible names,
of course, and I entered more contests. Then, something amazing happened. I began to see my name
among the finalists. In the year 2000, I even started winning … Oh, what fun!
In the year 2000, I also joined Colorado Romance Writers and discovered the joy of interacting
with others who share my passion for the creative process. I learned about email loops and
“networking”. Michele Chambers and I became critique partners... Oh, what fun!
On June 18th, 2004, I received “the call” every aspiring writer longs to hear.
The innovative, rapidly-growing e-publisher
Changeling Press
offered to publish my books. Contracts with Loose Id
and Ellora's Cave soon followed, and I was on my way... Oh, what fun!
Now I spend my days, and many of my nights, trying to keep up with the characters springing
to life within my mind. I find creative ways of avoiding errands and housework, because I can’t
drag myself away from the dramas unfolding in my latest story. And everyday I thank God I was able to quit
my day job and actively pursue my dream… Oh, what fun!
